Yes – The principal of operation works the same for both old and new vehicles. It works to slow the rate at which the steel reacts with environmental elements which cause rust. Hence, whether your vehicle is new or already has some rust, the ERPS system will work to slow the rust reaction and extend the life and value of the vehicle.
A word of warning: With older vehicles we suggest fitting the Electronic Rust Prevention System, then waiting four to six weeks before undertaking any repairs to the existing rust. This is because the system may react with the rust currently in the vehicle, causing a neutralizing effect which can sometimes (but not in all cases) cause slight blistering under the paint. This is not the system causing or accelerating rust, but simply reacting with the rust that is already present. This effect can sometimes show up rust that is not immediately obvious and may be lurking just below the surface. Hence it is advisable to fit the system and wait, allowing any hidden spots to be shown up. It’s always best to find these areas before you apply that nice new coat of paint. If the Electronic system were not fitted these areas will continue to develop and deteriorate rapidly.
